Semester Internships

RMM strives to provide college semester internships that are unique, educational and meaningful. Semester interns join us throughout our programmatic and administrative areas and at all of our centers. Your major doesn't matter; what matters is that you possess a commitment to justice and are looking for a challenge. Drop an email to one of our staff in the area and geographical region that interests you, and we will be happy to explore. We also have experience in working with academic departments toward getting academic credit.

We currently have an opportunity for a Communications Intern:

We are seeking a creative, determined communications intern to help tell our story. This position is specifically geared toward students pursuing degrees in journalism or communications, with an interest in social justice.

Responsibilities:

  • Help implement a marketing strategy that conveys RMM’s story.
  • Write copy for RMM’s monthly newsletter and social media posts.
  • Help develop multimedia materials (photos, videos, audio, etc.).
  • Help write press releases, letters to the editor, etc.
  • Help maintain a comprehensive press list for New York State media outlets, which may include calling reporters.
  • Help create marketing materials, with an eye toward consistent graphic design and branding.
  • Work with other RMM staff on related projects.
  • Provideadministrative assistance and other support tasks as needed.

  • Analytical skills — Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy — Ability to notice and take care of the small things, while keeping in mind the bigger picture.
  • Diversity-oriented — Ability to work effectively with people of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, religions and more.
  • Reliable and flexible — Be dependable and trustworthy in finishing the tasks you take on, and be willing to adapt to changes.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) — Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.

Helpful Skills and Abilities:

  • Conversational Spanish.
  • Multimedia content production.

While we prefer interns who can regularly come to our office in Cornwall-on-Hudson in order to connect with staff, we can also offer a hybrid internship or allow proactive interns to work from campus and communicate via phone calls, Zoom and email.
