“To say that the five days I spent with RMM was an eye-opening experience would be an understatement. Throughout the week, I met many inspiring individuals from various backgrounds who taught me a lot about the hardships that migrant farmworkers in New York face and the struggle for obtaining the rights that they so deserve.' — Samantha, Hobart and William Smith Colleges

The Alternative Spring Break is an experiential program offering an in-depth look at the many facets of farmworker life. Participants learn about the agribusiness system and the labor protections from which farmworkers are excluded.

Participants meet farmworkers and advocates, and engage in creative political action to advocate for equal rights for farmworkers. Through active involvement, we consider underlying questions of political and economic power, while learning about New York State’s legislative process and the power of students standing together in action with farmworkers and their allies.

Join college students from throughout New York State and beyond in supporting justice during the Alternative Spring Break. During the week, you will have the opportunity to travel throughout the western part of New York State as part of a program that incorporates experiential education through immersion and political action with New York’s rural communities.

Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities!
