The Justice for Farmworkers Campaign (JFW) was created as a statewide educational and legislative movement aimed at giving farmworkers the same rights that every other New York State worker receives. Early legislative campaign successes included the right to clean drinking water and sanitation facilities in the fields, and the right to the same minimum wage that other workers receive. On June 18, 2019, the New York State Legislature passed the Farm Laborers Fair Labor Practices Act.
With the passage of this bill, farmworkers need support from one another and allies more than ever to implement these changes. We continue to invite you to accompany farmworkers on the road ahead for labor equality.
The ability to support oneself and one's family is not a privilege; it is a right. We would like to draw special attention to the Farmworker Testimonies that were shared by worker leaders in Albany in January 2018.
