Retreat Leader: Julie Cicora is an Episcopal priest, mission developer and avid knitter. She has been knitting for more than fifty years and praying for 30! Contemplative Knitting Retreat - February 3-5, 2023

Discover how to turn your knitting time into a spiritual practice. Whether you are an experienced knitter or a novice, you can learn how to start and sustain a daily prayer practice using your knitting. Bring your friends and enjoy the historical setting of The Grail located at Cornwall on the Hudson. The Grail is an organization founded by women and steeped in spiritual tradition that honors environmental sustainability, women and the arts, social transformation, and global solidarity. This historic house is now home to Rural and Migrant Ministry, an organization dedicated to justice for Farmworkers.

Friday

4 pm - 7 pm Arrival and check in

6pm - 7pm Dinner (optional)

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm Introductions and retreat logistics

8:30 pm - 10 pm  Free time/knitting

10 pm  Quiet begins

Saturday

8 am - 9 am Breakfast

9 am - 10:30 am First Talk:  "How to set up a knitting prayer practice"

10:30 - 11:00 am  Break

11:00 am - 12:00 Project sharing (Bring a project to share with the group - this could be a finished object, work in process, or dream knitting (a project you may be considering))

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm  Lunch

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Second Talk - "How to sustain a knitting prayer practice"

2:30 pm - 3:00 pm  Break

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm  Yarn/book/tools Exchange (bring some yarn from your stash that you would like to exchange or just give away, you can bring knitting tools, books or anything that a knitter might find useful)

4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Stash Examen/Knitting through Grief/Knitting for others

5:30 pm - 6:00 pm  Dinner

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Questions and Answers

8:00 pm - 10 pm Free time

10 pm Quiet time
